There’s a book I keep going back to time & time again.
I’m here to give you the Sparknotes of it because…well, I want to give myself the Sparknotes.
That’s right, sometimes I do blog posts that I can go back to & reference.
This is one of those posts.
Before we get into it: HI HOW ARE YOU?
Last week was one of the most nuts weeks ever- it was literally non-stop from the second I woke up to the second I went to bed. Fun & rewarding but VERY MUCH exhausting. Yesterday ( Sunday ) I crashed. My body physically gave out- so I ended up in bed, watching TV, reading, eating day old pizza. You know, what you do when you’re lying around like a slob. I needed to re-shift my energy & re-shift it QUICK for Monday.
And magically: I woke up feeling relentless.
( Well not magically, actually practice- but we will get into that, k? )
Like I said, relentless is a word ( & book ) I keep going back to. There’s something about the word that lights my fire…every single Monday. I use it when I’m feeling tired. I use it when I don’t want to go to the gym. I use it when I don’t want to write a blog post. I use it when social media feels draining.
I use it a lot.
To explain why, I need to explain the back story.
Tim S. Grover wrote a book called…shit, you guessed it: RELENTLESS:

FIRST THINGS FIRST, ask yourself: are you relentless?
If you are, this post isn’t for you.
…& if you aren’t, good news! You can try yourself too, to be relentless.
To not accept no. To keep pushing forward. To practice discipline. To rinse & repeat EVERYDAY towards your goals NO MATTER what the obstacle.
Personally I deal with a fire every single day. I can’t tell you how many times content has been put out that’s not ready, someone forgets to do something very important, something is late, things don’t go my way, etc. The point is how you handle it though really. Instead of getting depressed, I decide I’m going to allocate my energy towards fixing the problem.
I’ve been told no 29387432948732048 times more than I’ve been told YES.
I’ve been laughed at.
In fact, I’ve been on the phone when people tore me to shreds.
I’m not saying any of this for sympathy.
I’m saying it because I’ve had many openings to sit around & feel bad about myself.
Instead I’ve made the decision to be relentless.
Obviously I’m not perfect & have so much more to learn but I DO FEEL LIKE THIS BOOK has sparked something that no one else has sparked in me. The spark has come from realizing no one else is going to light a fire under my ass.
Someone was interviewing me the other day & asked: what I do when I feel un-inspired.
I mean I feel un-inspired 80% of the time soooooo….I told them what I do. I said, “I tell myself to get the fuck up & over it. Self-discipline , motivate myself, whatever it takes to pull up my boot straps & move forward.”
At the end of the day if you’re giving any energy to negativity, that energy could be used in a positive way. Check your energy- I evaluate mine on a regular basis. I’m CONSTANTLY checking where I put my energy.
