The little things.

Sometimes they make all the difference.

Each year I’ve found I appreciate them more & more.

This month I’ve been concentrating on the many-times-forgotten-small things. Such as?

Glad ya asked.

1.} Remembering to appreciate where I live, every.single.damn.day. Life’s real spectacular— & I don’t want to miss out on its beauty because I’m too busy to pull my head outta my ass. Since moving into my new home, I’ve made it a point to enjoy the sunset. Everyday. No excuses.

2.} I said buh-bye to soy milk. Every morning I’d grab an iced coffee with an inch of soy, cinnamon, & a bit of nutmeg. Now instead I have an espresso shot over ice with twenty million sprinkles of cinnamon/nutmeg. I’ve lost five pounds in a months. Coolio. ( I had/have a few reasons for cutting soy milk, which I’ll address in a future post ).

3.} Organizing has become my bestie. I’ve organized so much shit this month- stuff I was putting off like a root canal. All my file folders are in order which gives me a calm feeling. Weird?

4.} I’ve been really spending time cooking, hanging with Pixy, walking outside, and listening Christmas music ( too soon? IDC. Michael Buble kills me! ).

5.} I recently discovered candlelight yoga. Think: nighttime yoga, candles, a dark room, acoustic music, & four teachers ( to stretch each student ). The best, right?!

So yah, don’t forget little things. They matter.

What’s a small thing you do that’s made a big-ass difference?

Spill.

That sunset..GORGEOUS! I have been focusing on spending more time outside of technology this month and let me tell you I am much more calm and collected and have more energy to have fun! Who would have thought creating and writing would take so much energy but it really does. Thank you for sharing! Lots of love C

Turning on reflektor by arcade fire upon waking each morning, Maybelline baby lips chapsticks esp the minty menthe one, lighting candles and incense lit in the evenings at home after work,, && yogi ginger tea…the little things are what make life worth living! xx

My husband and I love the 10 minutes before we go to sleep when we go to bed. It’s the only time of day our lab will cuddle us and I love those moments of cuddling and petting my fur baby.

What I’ve been doing that’s made my life significantly better is switching from shampoo to baking soda and ACV, Using baking soda and peppermint essential oil for toothpaste. (Nuts to flouride and sodium laurel sulfate!) No more liquid dairy, just water, water, coffee, herbal tea, and more water. Stretching in the mornings while listening to calming music, and cuddling more with the hubs and my fur babies :)

Couldn’t agree more. Life is all about appreciating the little things! A clean counter, a warm cup of tea before bed, snuggled up under a faux fur blanket on the couch at night while watching trashy TV or cooking shows, new hot workout clothes, a programmable coffee pot, tiny apples… ! Finding happiness in simplistic things that you use on a daily basis is an easy way to make a happier life overall :)

omg the soy! a few months ago i went vegan and ate way too much soy to help me get adequate protein…um cue the breakouts! my face freaked out! i immediately cut the soy and went back to my paleo ways. skin has never looked clearer! those phytoestrogens are a killer on the female body!

a small thing…gilding everything within reach for the holidays! metallic rustoleum has become my bestie.

Having just moved out to California, I have tried to take time everyday to go to my roof and watch the sunset. They are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen– and like you said it’s the little things that ease away stress xx
